Producer Profile
Somerston is a 1,682 acre winery estate hidden high in the eastern Vaca Mountains of Napa Valley. Established in 2007, the property is managed with the singular vision of becoming one of Napa Valley’s greatest estates. The estate has 230 acres of sustainably-farmed vineyards with 154 unique vineyard blocks, from which two distinct wine brands are produced – Somerston & Priest Ranch.
The Somerston wines showcase the highest quality single block wines on the property. With each vintage, the best sites are selected to produce distinctive block-designate wines.
Viticulture
At the estate, we saw very few extreme heat events and foggy mornings setting the stage for vibrant and expressive wines. The long, relatively mild finish to the season helped to preserve the freshness and finesse in the fruit with sufficient hang time teasing out a great color, structure, and soft tannins.
Winemaking
Priest Ranch Grenache Blanc was fermented in stainless steel drums and tanks. Native yeasts fermented the wine at a controlled 60 degrees F. The lees were stirred twice a month for five months before the wine was bottled.

Tasting Note
The 2016 Grenache Blanc is a beautiful crisp white wine with a pleasant acidity on the palate. Hints of bright fruit are accentuated on the nose, while flavors of green apples and citrus accent the finish. Our favorite way to enjoy a glass is with some triple cream cheese, alongside a spicy dish, or even on its own.
